My Glass Art
I began collecting glass bottles, every size, shape, and color I could get my hands on. The greatest majority of glass bottles I collected were wine and beer bottles. Wine consumption has increased all over the world with COVID 19. Thus to my advantage of getting a lot of bottles donated to my cause were by friends, customers, and neighbors for glass slumping.
Glass slumping is something I remembered from the 60’s – 70’s art festivals and was always intrigued. I found a glass kiln that needed a little work, after getting it fixed up and then installed in my garage – wa la – I was set up to go. I bought some supplies to get started with the glass slumping process, read books, watched a lot of YouTube videos and put it all together to create bowls, spoon rest, trivets, soap dishes, garnish bowls, bowls for dips, crackers, olives, pickles, crackers, sushi, etc. The uses are endless – and no two are ever alike, similar but different. The bottles and colors are always amazing to see how they turn out so it’s like Christmas after every firing to see how each one transforms from the bottle or jar it once was to something useful and not ending up in our landfill.
I am really just getting started on all of the different things I want to explore making with the glass bottles I have collected. So if your interested in any way, and want to see more of what I have, please don’t hesitate to reach out to make an appointment to visit and or shop. I would be thrilled to show you my work.
